Professional Development Workshop: Worker Safety in the Field is an interactive, scenario-based training designed to equip Florida Department of Children and Families frontline staff and Child Protective Investigators (CPIs) with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to safely navigate challenging field environments. Participants will explore the fundamentals of worker safety, understand the importance of situational awareness and risk assessment, and learn practical strategies for preventing and responding to threats while carrying out their duties. Through discussion, case studies, and realistic role-play exercises involving verbal threats, removals, weapons in the home, aggressive animals, unsafe housing conditions, and being followed after a visit, participants will strengthen their ability to make sound safety decisions, utilize departmental policies and resources appropriately, and balance child protection responsibilities with personal safety. The training reinforces a culture where safety is recognized as a professional responsibility and a critical component of effective service delivery. |
